Aussiemove commenced when Neville, Margaret and Michael Jones started operating from their home residence under the name of “Marven & Sons Pty Ltd”. In 1987, Marven & Sons purchased “Olympic Overseas Baggage”, which was later to become “Olympic International Shipping Pty Ltd” and ventured into overseas shipping, with both businesses being operated from their Thebarton depot. |

In April 1987, it was decided that a catchier name, which was also descriptive of the industry in which they were involved, was advisable. However, not wanting to change the name of the original parent company, it was decided to form a new company, hence the birth of Aussiemove International Movers Pty. Ltd.
With this company, plus a depot/store, came a more comprehensive removal package, and upgraded image by having a supply of the appropriate packaging cartons identified with the company logo, plus the availability of storage facilities. Although still small, the name and quality of service was becoming well known.

In 1989, the company applied to be admitted to the Department of Administrative Services Removals panel, and was approved to perform removals within South Australia initially. Having completed the probationary twelve months successfully, the company was accepted onto the Interstate Removals and Storage Panel in 1990. As the Thebarton depot was not large enough for this operation, the company relocated to warehouses in Beverley and Wingfield, prior to its current address at Mawson Lakes. |
With this contract came the need for more vehicles and equipment, which were duly purchased. In conference with the company's agents in all states, it was deemed that the use of containers and rail was more economical than having trucks on the highway. In 1992 the Darwin branch was opened, which Michael Jones manages together with his wife, Lee. This has proved a very worthwhile move and has grown much faster than anticipated. Currently the company operates approximately eighteen vehicles, sixty containers and employs a staff of twenty four people.
